How We Use Them

Every face is different — and every treatment plan should be, too. Great injectables aren’t aboutchasing lines or following Instagram trends — they’re about understanding anatomy, respecting proportion, and building natural-looking results over time.
Here’s how we use injectable tools area-by-area, how we layer them strategically, and what we’re actually aiming to achieve.
Keep in mind: these are just examples. The best results come from a collaborative approach — so be sure to strategize with your provider to find the ideal treatments for your face, goals, and anatomy.
Area-by-Area Strategy
Forehead Lines:
- Neuromodulators are the gold standard here. They soften horizontal forehead lines and the “11s” between the brows caused by repeated expressions.
- The goal isn’t to freeze — it’s to calm the muscle movement that etches deep lines over time.
- Placement is everything. Over-treating can cause heaviness or a flat brow. Under-treating still allows for natural motion.
- Filler should be rarely used here due to the thin skin and vascular risk — toxins only.
Brows & Temples:
- The tail of the brow can be gently lifted using neuromodulators by relaxing the depressor muscles around the eye.
- Temple hollowing is a common sign of aging and volume loss — and a major contributor to facial fatigue. Filling it with HA or CaHA restores the soft, youthful contour of the upper face.
- Bonus: temple filler supports brow position and can make lateral eyelids appear less heavy.
Under-Eyes aka Tear Troughs:
- Treated with soft, low-swell HA fillers to improve hollowing or dark shadows caused by volume loss.
- PRF or skin boosters can improve under-eye texture and fine lines when volume isn’t the issue.
- High-skill zone — risks include puffiness, Tyndall effect, and vascular compromise. Choose an injector with deep anatomic knowledge.
Cheeks & Midface:
- Cheeks are often step one in full-face rejuvenation. They anchor the midface, lift sagging lower face tissue, and restore youthful contour.
- Treated with firmer HA or CaHA for structure, and sometimes Sculptra or hyperdilute Radiesse for long-term collagen support.
- The cheek is rarely one injection — it’s often a multi-plane, multi-product area requiring finesse and balance.
Nose (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty aka Nose Job):
- Advanced use of firm HA fillers can straighten small humps, refine tips, or lift a drooping nasal base.
- Not suitable for all noses or all patients. Only to be done by experienced, advanced injectors due to the risk of vascular compromise.
- Results are beautiful when done right — and temporary.
Lips & Perioral Area:
- HA fillers are used to add volume, enhance borders, define the cupid’s bow, and support oral commissures.
- Neuromodulators can create a lip flip or soften upper lip lines.
- Skin boosters are fantastic for vertical lip lines or improving skin texture around the mouth.
- Not all lips need “plumping” — some need definition, structure, or support from nearby areas like the chin.
Chin & Jawline:
- The foundation of facial balance. Enhancing chin projection or contouring the jawline has a dramatic effect on harmony — especially in profile.
- Treated with firm HA, CaHA, or even Sculptra depending on volume needs and longevity goals.
- Neuromodulators can slim bulky masseter muscles or soften a pebble-textured chin (from mentalis overuse).
Nasolabial Folds aka Smile Lines & Marionette Lines:
- These folds deepen with age — but treating them directly isn’t always the answer.
- Midface volume loss often causes nasolabial folds to deepen. Treating the cheeks first ca soften these lines without chasing the crease.
- When filler is used directly, mid-weight HA or flexible products offer soft, natural movement.
Neck & Décolleté:
- Neuromodulators are used for platysmal bands or to lift the jawline with a “Nefertiti lift.”
- Biostimulators like Sculptra or hyperdilute Radiesse help improve skin thickness and laxity over time.
- Skin boosters address crepiness, fine lines, and hydration. Often layered for comprehensive rejuvenation.
Hands:
- Hands lose volume and develop a crepey, veiny look with age.
- Radiesse or Restylane Lyft can restore youthful volume and camouflage tendons and veins.
- Biostimulators improve tone, texture, and firmness over time.
Layering & Combo Treatments
Because no single syringe does it all.
The most natural, balanced, and long-lasting results rarely come from a single product. Instead, they come from thoughtful layering — using different types of injectables (and sometimes device treatments) to support one another.
This doesn’t mean “do everything at once.” It means using the right tool, in the right layer, at the right time — building results that evolve gradually and beautifully.
Filler + Neuromodulators
Balance movement + volume restoration for a natural, more complete result
Why: Dynamic lines are caused by muscle movement. Volume loss is caused by aging. These are two entirely different processes — which means they require two separate treatments. But when used together, neuromodulators and fillers work synergistically to deliver a balanced, refreshed look. Neuromodulators calm overactive muscles. Fillers restore lost support or enhance structure. Together? They soften expression while maintaining harmony — and prevent that “filled but still tired” look.
Examples:
- Botox to the crow’s feet + cheek filler to restore midface volume → Lifts and brightens theeye area from both a movement and structural perspective.
- Botox to lift the corners of the mouth + lip filler to restore volume and hydration → Helps treat the “sad mouth” effect with lift + plump, rather than just adding size.
- Masseter Botox to slim the lower face + chin/jawline filler for contour → Refines the face shape and creates a natural V-line — far more effective than either treatment on its own.
Think of this combo as both preventing and correcting: neuromodulators keep lines from getting deeper, while filler restores the volume that’s already been lost. It’s not about doing more — it’s about doing it smarter.
Neuromodulators + Skin Boosters
Refine expression, then boost the glow.
Why: Neuromodulators address movement — softening lines caused by repeated expressions. Skin boosters target texture — hydrating and improving skin quality from within. When used together, they refine the way your face moves and how your skin looks doing it. This combo is especially powerful for areas where fine lines and dullness coexist — think around the mouth, eyes, or forehead. The neuromodulator prevents further creasing while the skin booster improves hydration, elasticity, and light reflection.
Examples:
- Botox to the crow’s feet to relax the muscle contraction + Skinvive to improve texture and dullness of the skin → Softens expression lines and gives the skin a dewy, airbrushed finish.
- Lip flip with Botox + skin booster around the lips → Elevates the upper lip subtly while softening vertical lip lines and improving skin hydration.
This combo is ideal for patients who want to look smoother, brighter, and refreshed — not “frozen.” It’s about softening edges, not erasing personality.
Filler + Skin Boosters
Structure meets skin quality — a dream team.
Why: Filler restores volume, shape, and contour. Skin boosters improve hydration, elasticity, and surface texture. Together, they don’t just change the way your face is shaped — they elevate how your skin behaves, moves, and reflects light. This combo is perfect when you want refinement and radiance. Think of it as pairing internal scaffolding with a skin-deep filter — structure + glow.
Examples:
- Lip filler for shape and volume + Skinvive for hydration and fine lines → Gives lips a juicy, healthy appearance without looking stiff or overfilled.
- Cheek filler to restore midface volume + Skinvive across the same area → Lifts the face while brightening crepey or textured skin in the same zone.
Skin boosters don’t replace filler — but they do support it beautifully. The best results don’t just have volume — they have bounce, luminosity, and skin that moves like real skin.
Filler + Biostimulators
Immediate structure + long-term collagen = the best of both worlds.
Why: Fillers give you instant volume and contour — perfect for visible lift, projection, or definition. Biostimulators, on the other hand, stimulate your body to build collagen slowly over time, improving skin thickness, firmness, and elasticity. When layered together (either in the same area or in complementary ones), they create results that look good now and age even better. Think of filler as the “here’s what you came for” and biostim as “here’s what keeps it looking good for years.” This combo is excellent for patients in their 30s–50s who want both immediate improvement and long-term skin resilience.
Examples:
- Cheek filler for lift + Sculptra to maintain volume and improve skin quality → You’ll see the effect now, and keep improving over the next 6 months.
- Chin and jawline filler for shape + Hyperdilute Radiesse to firm the overlying skin → Creates contour and improves texture and tone — especially for early jowling or laxity.
- HA filler for deep structural support + Sculptra in temples to restore balance and lift → A thoughtful, subtle balancing strategy — the kind of detail that elevates results from “nice” to “flawless.”
Biostimulators are never about replacing filler — they’re about supporting your skin in the long term. You’ll thank yourself (and your collagen) in a year.
Biostimulators + Neuromodulator
Structure + softening = the under-the-radar powerhouse.
Why: This combo isn’t always flashy — but it’s highly strategic. Biostimulators rebuild collagen and improve the foundation of the skin. Neuromodulators soften the repetitive muscle movement that etches lines over time. When used together, they tackle both extrinsic (movement-related) and intrinsic (aging-related) causes of volume loss and laxity — making them ideal for subtle, long-game facial rejuvenation. This pairing is especially useful in people who are starting to see deeper etched lines and early skin thinning, even after consistent neuromodulator use.
Examples:
- Botox in the crow’s feet + Sculptra around the midface → Prevents deeper motion lines while rebuilding lost collagen around the eye area.
- Platysmal band Botox + hyperdilute Radiesse in the neck → Softens vertical neck lines and improves skin quality and crepiness — a popular combo for aging necks.
- Masseter Botox to slim the jawline + Sculptra to the cheek or preauricular area → Helps reshape and contour the face holistically — not just by subtracting, but by rebuilding structure.
This combo is for those playing the long game — when prevention and support matter as much as immediate results. It’s less “what did she do?” and more “why does she look so rested and well- rested all the time?”
The Takeaway
The best injectable results don’t come from a single product — they come from strategy, layering, and restraint. Whether you’re starting small or building a long-term plan, understanding how these treatments complement each other is key.
A great injector won’t just ask, “What bothers you?” — they’ll ask, “What’s the smartest way to support your skin now and in the future?”
Because when the right tools are used in the right places, at the right time, the result is never obvious — it’s just... elevated.
